Math Olympiad for Elementary School Students
The Math Olympiad class will develop critical thinking skills and math abilities in young elementary school students. The course seeks to stimulate enthusiasm in math, while covering core concepts at the elementary school level. Emphasis will be in introducing students to higher level math, fostering creativity and ingenuity, as well as teaching problem solving strategies. In addition, students will also be exposed to contest math problems, such as the Math Olympiad.
Problem Solving and Preparation for AMC 8
The AMC 8 is a national mathematics competition for students in 8th grade and below. This is the first of a series of math competitions for the selection for the USA Math Team, hosted by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). This class provides an introduction to competition math and covers the core concepts necessary for successful participation in the AMC 8. It is recommended that students have a strong understanding of the school math curriculum up to Algebra I/Geometry and an interest in learning math at a higher level. The class is designed for students currently excelling in math at school.
- Preparation for AMC 10 (Section A)
The AMC 10 is a national mathematics competition designed for students in 10th grade and below. Successful participation leads to qualification for the AIME and USAJMO. This class provides a review of core math concepts and specialized training for the AMC 10, while going into more depth and breadth. The course is designed for students who would like to qualify for AIME, as well as those who have already done so and are looking to further improve their problem-solving skills. It is recommended that students have a strong understanding of the school math curriculum as well as an interest in pursuing higher level math.
4th - 5th Grade Science Bowl
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl® is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. This class introduced young students to new science concepts as well as early Science Bowl participation. I focuses on preparing students for participation in Science Bowl, covering rules, strategies, and the knowledge necessary to be competitive at tryouts. It also builds valuable skills in teamwork, collaboration, and critical thinking in all STEM fields.
6th-8th Grade Science Bowl
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl® is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. This class prepares students for junior high and high school Science Bowl. We will be reviewing rules and strategies, before delving into the knowledge necessary to be competitive. It also builds valuable skills in teamwork, collaboration, and critical thinking in all STEM fields. The 7th-8th Grade Science Bowl class is specialized for high-achieving junior high students looking to participate in Science Bowl at the junior high/high school level.
